Subject Area Examples

When entering your high school coursework, you'll need to select a Subject Area for each course you enter. This describes the general field of study that the course falls under (for example, mathematics or history). The following examples give you an idea of what kinds of courses fall within each Subject Area. 

 

  If after reading these examples you're still not sure which Subject Area to select for one of your classes, choose Other.

 

Some examples of courses for each subject are:

  • History/Social Science - Criminal Justice, Women's Studies, Psychology
  • English - Poetry, Popular Fiction, Shakespeare's Comedies
  • Math - Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics
  • Laboratory Science - Geology, Physics, Biology
  • Language Other than English - French, Chinese, American Sign Language
  • Visual and Performing Arts - Drama, Jazz Band, Painting
